It's finally here! After being "sold out" for months after terrific sales at our little summer store, the Fall Harvest of Beef is ready and boy does that meat look good. We picked up some of the boxes from our Farmer's Co-Op yesterday to fill orders for our local deliveries this Saturday. If you haven't already ordered yours, you can place your order here in the Marketplace for delivery Saturday if you hurry.
And of course, we got some grass fed Angus for ourselves - did I mention that we sold so much of our meat this summer we didn't have any either? So, I have steaks thawing as I type and I can't wait to taste it!
Our meat is dry aged, cut and wrapped at Island Grown Farmer's Co-Operative where we are members. As you might guess from the name, it started as a group of small producers in the San Juan Islands who banded together to harvest their meat. The plant is now located in beautiful Bow, Washington and serves members on the mainland as well as the Islands. The experienced staff individually hand cuts each beef to our specifications, all under USDA inspection. We couldn't ask for better! Personalized attention to each beef carcass is good for the meat and for our customers. You can taste the difference.
I've posted some additional pictures of the cutting and wrapping process below. We want you to know not only exactly how our beef is raised, but how our meat is processed. We love to talk with our customers, so if you have questions give us a call or send us an e-mail.
